Once again, it's been awhile since my last post. I always have the best intentions when I start a new entry that I will keep it going and write all the time, but life tends to get in the way of that sometimes. I have, however, been kept busy. Work has been really stressful and I've been going in early and working late. But that doesn't mean I'm not still working on my own projects.
I didn't finish what I had talked about in my last entry. I did help mom pick out paint colors when I went home a couple weeks ago. A beautiful purple accent wall where the headboard will sit with that white, black and green accented bedspread will pop and be stunning. So, in a way I did work on it...just not how I had originally intended.
Instead, I started a new project on Monday. I am itching to be creative again. And since I have such a love for hospitality design, that's where my focus will be First step: create a client. I struggled with this in school and struggled with it earlier this week. Granted in the real world, you're not making up clients, but it's important to be able to do this when doing 'imaginary' projects. I decided to do a coffee & chocolate shop which I have named "Steam". Here's the logo I've created:
Next step: location, location, location. I started researching commercail real estate in the Des Moines area. I originally wanted to find a location downtown, but ended up finding a space located in the West Glen area of West Des Moines near Jordan Creek Mall.
I put the plan into Revit and have now begun researching furniture options and thinking about finishes and what I want the feel of the space to be. I'm thinking contemporary, rich and comfortable. I want the design, much like the coffee and chocolate, to appeal to the senses.
I'm anxious to start rendering again as well. I have downloaded Revit2012 and am super excited to see how the rendering capabilities have improved an hopefully pushing my renders towards even more realism than the others I have produced before.
Keep checking back for more updates. I plan on posting my progress before or after each time I work on it.
Stay happy, be creative & keep designing your future.
Love always,
Amanda
